Sock Dolls

In my colonial america class yesterday we made sock dolls, and they were a huge hit. Who knew??? Even the 9 boys in my class were totally into it. So when we got home, our daughter G made one and I gave my sample doll to A. G went a step further and braided some hair for her doll out of yellow yarn. Aren't they cute??

K and A would definitely enjoy making these. They love crafts. Maybe someday soon. We would have to buy brand new socks though because in case you haven't heard, I have a real issue with socks!

Targetshopper: I did buy brand new socks for this craft. A huge bag of them at Target (your favorite store!!). Most of my students forgot to bring one from home, even though I had sent a letter home the previous Friday AND an email a few days before, but oh well. I digress.

I agree, definitely only new socks for this craft. I feel that way and I don't have a huge issue with socks, does that make you feel better?

How funny! The Carol Duvall Show I guess did a segment years ago on how to make a sock monkey and that just took off like wildfire. It became the star of the show over the years and a constant gag line.
